She's My DJ! - November 2006

In November 2005, She’s My DJ!, the 1st All-female Hip-Hop turntablist competition was held in downtown NYC’s, world famous SOB’s. The event, hosted by 105.1FM’s DJ Red Alert and judged by veteran Hip-Hop video host, Ralph McDaniels, was a huge success. Garnering domestic and international publicity and providing cross-media promotion for seven female turntablists, She’s My DJ! 2005 revealed that DJing is not ‘just for the boys,’ but is a skill that the fairer sex also excels at. Hundreds of Hip-Hop enthusiasts and music lovers attended SOB’s to see these DJanes compete, letting us know that our vision to hold She’s My DJ! annually would be realized.

“She’s My DJ! 2006” continued the mission and peaked the interest of major music companies, personalities and djs, including NYC’s HOT 97’s DJ Jazzy Joyce and The Wonder Twinz of Connex List.
